SAD NEWS...Miss Sweet Pea has gone to that Doggie heaven for Beagles. May she be happy and hunting the rest of eternity.
SAD NEWS... Misty Morn has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
At 3 pm Thursday May 28, 2009, my mare, Misty Morn crossed the rainbow bridge. Misty was my first horse and she suffered from a relatively rare equine disease known as "shivers". Despite tremendous help from Veternarian Medical Center and Dr. Beth Valentine, the disease marched on, weakening her hind limbs to the point she was unable to pick them up without extreme effort. She was fearful and uncertain. She was losing her position in the herd. I didn't want her to eventually be unable to stand without assistance. The fateful decision was made after many sleepless nights. What a wimp I am! I asked my husband Bill to oversee the procedure. I slumped at my desk in Washington DC.
Bill just sent me an email.."Its over.. Things went really well. Doc Corcoran came. He complemented you on "thinking of your mare". Misty just went to sleep. Pete said that Misty was treated with much more dignity in death than xxx's Dad ".
I will always have the beautiful pictures taken of Misty by friends, including the magnificent professional photo of Misty taken by Tom Rowe of Hoofprint Images. I will always have Misty's two beautiful foals to remember her by.. Both Rascal and Trudie have her sweet eye, never white and always calm. Thank you Pat and Maryann fC or your hugh generosity with respect to Romeo's contributions.. we share beautiful babies! Thank you to Dr. Didi Callahan for her generous contribution to the Equine Research Foundation in Misty's name. Thank you Martie B. for your building sketch of Misty and all the kind DDC/TEC condolence cards.
Run fast and run free my big mare....
Special thanks to my wonderful husband Bill for his support, Pao Lin
